Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide an air cooling type stirring apparatus wherein an air cooling type stirrer of which an inside is made hollow is constituted so as to be capable of being raised and lowered and deposits can be easily removed by immersing deposit part in a molten metal of a refining furnace and rotating the stirrer therein. CONSTITUTION:In refining furnace 1 which receives molten matte 2 held at 1,200-1,400 deg.C and into which a reducing agent is thrown from an inlet 4, a stirrer 10 having a rotary shaft 6 and a stirring blade 8 with an enlarged diameter provided to a lower end thereof is suspended. An insides of the shaft 6 and the blade are made hollow and a cooling air introducing pipe 11 is inserted thereinto. During the operation of the furnace 1 in the above described constitution, deposit A is adhered to a periphery of the shaft 6 above the blade 8 and gradually enlarged to disable throw-in operation of the reducing agent to a stirring region 3. In this case, by lowering the shaft 6 and immersing deposit A into the molten matte 2 as well as rotating the shaft 6, the deposit A can be easily melted down. That is, without obstructing operational continuity of the furnace 1, the deposit A can be removed and workability of the furnace 1 can be further enhanced.
