Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the sure collection of heavy electrical current, by twisting high-conductivity wires around a core of tensile strength to make a linear conductor of high tensile strength.
CONSTITUTION: A linear conductor 10 is compoaed of a core 12 of tensile strength which is made by twisting a plurality of wires 11 of steel or the like together and a stranded conductor part 14 made by twisting numerous smaller- diameter copper wires 13 together in opposite directions around the core 12. A linear coating insulator 20 has an almost U-shaped cross section and comprises a part having shoulders 21 and engaged with hangers 30, legs 22 and the opening 23. The linear conductor 10 is fitted in the opening 23 and has a part exposed therein so that a contact surface 15 for a current collector is provided. As a result, high tensile strength is attained, a current of 300A or more can be conducted without losing an adequate flexibility and sure current collection is enabled.
