Abstract
PURPOSE: To attain inexpensive and highly efficient shaft sealing by an apparatus for sealing a shaft that will be used, for example, in a hydrogen gas sealing section of rotating shaft of a turbine generator, in which apparatus an auxiliary sealing apparatus is provided on a higher pressure chamber side of a floating ring in a sealing casing.
CONSTITUTION: A hydrogen side floating ring 2 and an atmosphere side floating ring 3 are forced to the circumference of a rotating shaft 1 by a coil spring 4, and prescribed shaft sealing is obtained by supplying a sealing oil 6 into the sealing casing 5 containing the rings 2, 3. The auxiliary sealing apparatus 14 is provided on the high pressure chamber side 8 of the ring 2. The apparatus 14 includes an annular resilient sealing ring 15 and a hydraulically pushed ring 17 fitted into the opening of the ring 15, both rings being incorporated into the sealing caing 5. An inner circumferential groove 24 of a sliding bearing 23 and hydraulic chamber 18 of said sealing ring 15 are communicated via a hydraulic pressure introducing inlet 25, a hydraulic pressure adjusting valve 26, a high pressure pipe 27, etc.
