Abstract
PURPOSE: To make methane fermentation efficiently by providing a base material guide in a unit fermenter at one end of seriate fermenters and providing a sludge discharging port in a unit fermenter at the other end and installing an inclined board for flowing down of the sludge.
CONSTITUTION: The base material of dissolved organic matters is first led to the first fermenter 1 and generates methane gas by methane fermentation due to methane bacilli in the fermenter 1. The base material changed to sludge is led to succeeding fermenters 1', 1" successively by an inclined board 5 for flowing down of the sludge, and similarly generates methane gas by methane fermentation caused by methane bacilli. Since quick flow of the sludge is prevented by plates 6, 6' forming a zigzag flow passage, fermentation is effected efficiently. The sludge becomes digested sludge in the last stage fermenter 1" and discharged. The scum generated on the surface of the liquid moves through a scum drift check plates 7, 7' and can be utilized effectively for methane fermentation.
