Abstract
PURPOSE: To remove the COD and chromaticity components in sewage efficiently and inexpensively by removing the COD and chromaticity components through having the same adsorbed in packings of active carbon or the like and at the same time by biologically decomposing the adsorbed COD and chromaticity components.
CONSTITUTION: Secondary treated water is introduced into a packed tank which is provided with an air diffuser in the lower part and is formed with fixed beds or moving beds packed the packing materials having COD adsorbing capacity such as active carbon or bone ashes, wherein while it is being aerated at ≤0.33 SV value and its COD and chromaticity components are adsorbed by the packing materials and removed. At the same time, the COD and chromaticity components adsorbed on the packing materials are biologically decomposed, whereby the packing materials are regenerated. Thus, the adsorption on the packing materials and the regeneration of the packing materials are accomplished parallelly and simultaneously without separately making regeneration operation, whereby the COD and chromaticity components in the sewage are removed.
