Abstract

PURPOSE: A heat accumulating material of suitable m.p. and a large heat accumlation capacity per unit vol., prepd. by the addition of a specified metal salt to sodium acetate trihydrate.
CONSTITUTION: 1W30pts.wt. at least one metal salt or hydrous metal salt selected from potassium chloride, bromide and iodide, lithium chloride and bromide, magnesium chloride, ferrous and ferric chloride, and cobalt and nickel chloride, is added to 100pts.wt. sodium acetate trihydrate (NaCH3COO.3H2O) of m.p. about 58°C. The obtd. composition is suitably used as a heat medium for a heat pump system, etc. because it has an m.p. of about 50°C and a large heat accumulation capacity.
