PURPOSE:To improve stability by sealing heavy metal ion such as iron ion, by treating the photographic material with the developer which includes >=1 kind of materials selected from bishydroxyethyl-ethylenediaminediacetic and and its salts. CONSTITUTION:0.1-5g/l of >=1 kind of bishydroxyethyl-ethylenediamine diacetic acid, it's alkali metal salt and ammonium salt is added to the developing liquid for black and white photographic material whch uses methol, phenidone, hydroquinone, etc. as a main developing agent or to the developing liquid of color photographic material which uses aromatic primary developing agent such as N- N-disubstituted-p-phenylenediamine. Photographic material is treated by this developing liquid and heavy metal ion such as iron ion in the developing liquid is sealed to obtain photographic material which is stabilized for a long period of time.
