Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a simple B-protein assay method not using a complicated natural extract such as GoA-SPC. CONSTITUTION:A given amount of a soluble protein is added to a specified amount of human serum and mixed. A precipitate produced through the addition of a chemical denaturing agent is separated and collected by a conventional means and again suspended in a given amount of water or a salt solution to dissolve a water-soluble part, and the turbidity of the solution is measured by a conventional means to assay specific serum protein, especially B-protein. A substantially water-soluble protein having a molecular weight of about 13,000- 200,000 may be used as a soluble protein and serum albumin or serum globulin is especially preferred. A protein denaturing agnet is used as the chemical denaturing agent, and trichloroacetic acid used as a 10-20% aqueous solution is most suitable.
