Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a popped grain (pon gashi), by heating a grain, e.g. rice or bean, in an enclosed chamber, and reducing the pressure of the chamber rapidly at the same time.
CONSTITUTION: An opening 2 for introducing and taking out a raw material is provided at one side of a spherical chamber 1, and a lid 3 for opening and closing the opening 2 is pivoted on a coupling pin 4 and supported by the chamber 1 swingably. A closed lid locking mechanism 5 for locking the lid 3 is further provided, and a handling bar 6 is equipped on the opposite side of the opening 2. An electric heating apparatus 7 is provided around the chamber 1. A raw material is then introduced from the opening 2 into the chamber 1, and the lid 3 is closed to lock the closed lid 3 with the closed lid locking mechanism 5. The raw material is then heated by the heat source for about 3min, and the chamber 1 is shaken by hand via the handling bar 6.
