Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent vibrio disease bring about much damage to cultured fresh water fishes, by immersing a fish body in a vaccine obtained by deactivating the culture of vibrio anguillarum.
CONSTITUTION: A mixed solution culture of three different antibody types of vibrio anguillarum, namely, PT-24 strain (serotype A, Tokushima), PT-223 strain (serotype B, Tokushima), and PT-514 strain (serotype C, Tokushima), is treated with formalin or heat-treated so that the culture is deactivated, to give a vaccine. A fish body (e.g., a sweat fish and rainbow trout) is immersed in a sugar bath to make it a dry state temporarily, and immersed in the vaccine of vibrio disease, to prevent the vibrio disease, one of bacillosis, which causes much damages on cultured fresh water fishes. The vaccine is introduced into the body of a fish and it shows immune effects, so that the appearance of resistant bacteria to many drugs brought about by much use of antibiotics, a recent problem, can be prevented.
