Abstract

PURPOSE: To cut the unnecessary part of a cast product efficiently and accurately according to a standard by allowing a lower knife edge projecting from a reception table to nip the unnecessary part of a cast product and by moving down and butting an upper knife edge at a cutting point.

CONSTITUTION: Lower knife edge 3 is fixed at the place that corresponds to the cut part of unnecessary part W₁ of the pouring gate, etc., of work W and outside of reference setting table 2. While inside 3b of lower knife edge 3 is perpendicular, outside 3c is inclined and share point 3a is projected by a half the thickness of unnecessary part W₁. Work W is mounted on setting table 2 and pressed to make knife edge 3a nip from the reverse surface of unnecessary part W₁. Next, upper knife edge 4 in the shape symmetric with that of lower knife edge 3 is allowed to nip from the top of unnecessary part W₁. Further, work W is pressed down and when its reverse surface comes into contact with top surface 2a of setting table 2, lower and upper knife edges 3 and 4 reach intermediate points of the thickness of unnecessary part W₁ to confront each other. In this method, cutting stress operates outward and never operates on product side W₂, so that projecting unrequired part W₁ will be cut off with a flat cut surface.
