Abstract

PURPOSE:To miniaturize an installation and to carry out the annealing and reheating drying sufficiently by few electrode wheels by a method wherein the metal wire is subjected to the preheating and the annealing between the first and the second electrode wheels of the continuous annealing apparatus and subjected to the cooling and the reheating between the second and the third electrode wheels. CONSTITUTION:The metal wire is run in contact with the electrode wheel 12, guide rolls 28, 30, 34, the electrode wheel 14, guide rolls 36, 38, 40 and the electrode wheel 16 and the preheating, the annealing, the cooling and the reheating are applied successively. In the preheating part 20 and the annealing part 22, predetermined voltage is applied from voltage between the electrode wheels 12, 14 and a resistance value determined by a length of the metal wire 1 and the metal wire 1 reached to the terminal end of the annealing part 22, that is, the electrode wheel 16 is reached to the optimum annealing temp. The annealed metal wire 1 is cooled in a cooling part 24. Electric charge is applied between the electrode wheels 14, 16 at a level same to electric discharge between the electrode wheels 12, 14 and the length of the metal wire 1 in the reheating part 26 is set to a length to which current necessary in drying is passed. This apparatus is suitable for annealing the metal wire with large reheating length such as a twisted wire.
