Abstract
PURPOSE:To miniaturize a U-link by mounting a pair of optical fibers in the positions symmetrical to the axis of one end face of a circular cylindrical optical transmission body of which the refractive indexes in its radial direction have a parabolic distribution and which has a length of 1/4 pitch or its odd times. CONSTITUTION:A circular cylindrical optical transmission body 13 is fixed in the receiving seat 12 of a front face plate 11. Said body 13 is a lenslike medium of which the refractive indexes in its radial direction have a parabolic distribution, and which is of a length of 1/4 pitch (or its odd times). Optical fibers 14a and 14b are fixed to one end face thereof in the positions symmetrical to the axis. A member 15 provided with a total reflection surface 15a is inserted into the receiving seat 12 and is closely adhered to the body 13. The light having entered the inside of the body 13 through the fiber 14a is reflected by the reflection surface 15a as shown by the broken lines, and emits from the fiber 14b. Thereby, the U-like is miniaturized.
