Abstract

PURPOSE:To control the refractory material layer thickness of the furnace wall in the furnace hearth part in a manner as to be made uniform circumferentially by separating the staves cooling the furnace wall by the staves of the hearth part and further dividing the staves and independently controlling these. CONSTITUTION:The temp. of the fixed depth position of refractory materials 17 is continuously measured with a thermometer 18, and is inputted to an operator 19 which calculates refractory material layer thickness L of furnace wall. If this measured temp. value is high, the opening of the flow rate control valve 20 of a by-pass 15 is decreased to decrease the circulation rate of the hot water not going through a cooler 8A, thereby increasing the cooling capacity of the stave S1 of the separated hearth part and accelerating the sticking of the deposite 17A, when measuring temp. value is lowered, the valve 20 is adjusted to opening direction to rise higher the temp. of circulating water, thereby lowering the cooling capacity of the stave S1 and stripping the deposits 17A. In this stave S1 is divided and the divided staves are independently controlled, the refractory material layer thickness L of the furnace wall of the hearth part is uniformly controlled.
