Abstract

PURPOSE: To heighten the concentration density of a varnish primary coating as well as to reduce the consuming amount of a solution to be used by a method wherein, the substrate material is travelled maintaining contact with a revolving roll being designed in the manner that its lower part is immersed in a primary varnish while rolling, and a doctor blade is installed at the side of the roll which immerses into the varnish.
CONSTITUTION: The substrate material consisting of paper, glass unwoven cloth, glass woven cloth and the like is travelled maintaining contact with the revolving roll 7, and the substrate material is immersed with the primary varnish being attached on the surface of the roll 7. The excess primary varnish attached on the roll surface is removed by the doctor blade 8, and the mechanism is so designed as to apply the varnish of constant volume on the surface of the roll 3 at all times, i.e. while the revolving roll 3 dips in the varnish during its rolling, the varnish of a constant volume is applied on the roll surface by the time until the roll makes contact with the substrate material. Consequently, a constant volume of the varnish is applied to the substrate, thereby making the immersion of the varnish into the substrate stable.
