Abstract
PURPOSE: To automatically work a lens type body having both sides symmetrical with each other and its similar body without changing the working center line by a method wherein a blank material is retained in a pair of fitting and removing devices having common rotation axis line and moving shaft line installed on a machine base and the surface is worked by a tool installed on the machine base.
CONSTITUTION: A drum type blank material 27 is retained in an open-close type chuck 10 and a spindle 4 and the chuck 10 are advanced forward, and then, the material 27 is ground with a grinding plate 5 and, it is polished with a polishing plate 6. Next, the spindle 4 is made to retreat and the chuck 10 is made to advance to the sucking chuck side 11, then, the finishing face of the material 27 is made to be attracted to the sucking chuck 11 and thereafter, the chuck 10 is reatreated to the initial position and is made to retain a new blank material 27. Next, the spindle 4 is made to advance forward and the blank materials retained in chucks 10, 11 are simultaneously ground and polished. With this, without changing the working center line, a both faces grinding can be performed automatically, quickly and in a high accuracy.
