Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the malodorous gas adsorption capacity of regenerated active carbon of lowered adsorption capacity carrying the oxide of phosphorus, the oxygen acid of phosphorus or its salt by heating the same to 350W700°C which are above the decomposition temp. of phosphorus compounds.
CONSTITUTION: The active carbon carrying at least one kind of the oxide of phosphorus, the oxygen acid of phosphorus or its salt and having been degraded of adsorption capacity by being contacted with basic malodorous component gases such as ammonia and amines is heated at 350W700°C, whereby it is regenerated. The active carbon prepd. by using charcoal, coke, coconut shells, resins, etc. as raw materials, and generating the same and having 200W2,000m2/g specific surface areas may be used, and the amount of carrying the phosphorus compound in the active carbon is ≥1/100 with respect to the active carbon. The proper regeneration of the active carbon of degraded malodorous gas adsorption performance is to heat the active carbon at 370W500°C in the presence of an inert gas such as nitrogen or carbon dioxide.
