Abstract
PURPOSE:To surely stop a motor with a brake current which is so small as not to make a motor temperature over a rated value by a method wherein actuating signals are fed to ON-OFF controlling trigger circuit intermittently for a prescribed period even after a detecting circuit of the top position reached by a sewing machine needle has been finished for operation. CONSTITUTION:In case of a single sewing with a sewing machine needle, the top position detecting circuit 14 operates when the needle reaches again the top position after a cycle of its vertical motion, and the ON-OFF controlling trigger circuit 12 is operated by an output of the circuit 14 to cause a braking thyristor 10 to be turn ON. Accordingly, the motor 5 is applied with a short-circuit braking to cause a number of rotations to be reduced rapidly. At this time, even the sewing machine is rotated exceeding a working angle of the top position detecting circuit 14 and the top position detecting circuit 14 finishes to operate, a state holding circuit 15 operates to continuously supply drive signals to the trigger circuit 12 for a given period of time necessary for the sewing machine being surely stopped. After the predetermined period of time after the operation starting of state holding circuit 15, a timer circuit 13 permits the state holding circuit 15 and the trigger circuit 11 to be reset.
