Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve a commutation efficiency by a method wherein there are used semiconductor switching elements having self-arc-suppressing capabilities and a transformer in which a commutating voltage is generated by making continuity the elements, in the self-exciting type inverter in which thyristor are used. CONSTITUTION:The main thyristors 20-23 connected in antiparallel with diodes 24-27 for a fly-wheel are bridge-connected between DC power sources of two power sources 28A, 28B being connected in series with each other. The semiconductor switching elements 30, 31 having the self-arc-suppressing capabilities are connected in series between the DC power sources, a primary winding of the transformer 32 is connected between a connecting point A of those elements and connecting points of the power source 28A, 28B. The connecting point A is connected to output terminals of the main thyristors 20-23 through secondary windings 32A, 32B of the transformer 32 and the thyristor 33-36. With the continuity made between the semiconductor switching element 30 and the thyristor 33, a voltage is generated in the secondary winding 32A to effect turning the main thyristor 20 OFF.
