Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase reliability and to make ease of handling, by making the transmission/ reception of data between a nonvolatile semiconductor memory card and a card loader inserting it with a photocoupling element. CONSTITUTION:A memory card 1 consisting of nonvolatile semiconductor elements is inserted from an insertion section 22 of a memory card loading device 2 and after it is set at a given location, it is locked. The optical data output from a light emitting element 211 of the said loader 2 is received by a photodetector 121 of the memory card 1 via a window 111 and sequentially written in nonvolatile memory. When the write-in is finished, the memory card 1 is de-inserted from loader 2 and stored. Further, the data stored in the memory card 1 is output from a light emitting element 122 and received at a photodetector 212 of the loader 2 via a window 112 to read out the memory content of the memory card 1. Battery back-up is not required to this memory card device and reliability is high, since photocoupling element is used for data transmission/reception.
