Abstract

PURPOSE: To rapidly inspect the adequateness or not of concrete quality prior to placement of concrete by deciding water-cement ratios.
CONSTITUTION: At the unloading point from a ready-mixed concrete car, a suitable amount of ready-mixed concrete is sampled into a bucket 1. After gravel is separated with a sieve 2, mortar (a) for measuring water amount and mortar (b) for measuring cement amount are weighed. The mortar (a) of constant volume is put into an Erlenmeyer flask and the temp.-corrected underwater weight U is measured by using a balance 12 and a thermometer 8. Also, the mortar (b) is put into a constant volume measuring flask 4, and while it is repeatedly stirred and allowed to stand, the temp.-corrected specific gravity is measured with a hydrometer 7 and the thermometer 8. Cement amount C is obtained from the measured values and the specific gravity-cement amount relation data having beforehand been obtained, and further, water amount W is obtained based on the underwater weight U, the cement amount C and the specific gravity of the cement and aggregate having beforehand been obtained. From the water amount W and the cement amount C, a water- cement ratio W/C is obtained. Thereby, whether the ready-mixed concrete is of the quality at which necessary strength is obtainable after setting or not is decided prior to placement of the concrete.
