Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide laser glass having a small induction emitting cross-sectional area, a low nonlinear refractive index factor and a specified composition contg. SiO2, K2O, Nd2O3 etc. CONSTITUTION:This laser glass is fluorosilicate laser glass consisting of, by wt., 54-65% SiO2, 18-31% K2O, 3-15% MgO+CaO+SrO+BaO+ZnO, 0.01-10% Nd2O3, 0-7% Al2O3, 0-5% Na2O+Li2O, 0-3% Nb2O3MoO3+WO3 and 2.5- 6% F, having a small induction emitting cross-sectional area and a low nonlinear refractive index factor, and capable of being effectively actuated by shorter pulse oscillation as well as longer pulse oscillation. High purity starting materials for optical glass and various fluorides are mixed well, melted in a platinum crucible, refined, and slowly cooled to produce a strainfree base material for this laser glass.
