Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure the interval between the object, which exists in the closed vessel, and the inside wall of the vessel, by applying the oblique angle flaw inspecting method by ultrasonic waves.
CONSTITUTION: The position of probe 10 is moved along the outside face of tank 1 so that the ultrasonic wave is refledted on bottom plate 4 which has no trouble in respect to the reflective face, and a proper position is obtained. Under this state, the ultrasonic wave is transmitted from probe 10. A part of the longitudinal wave which strikes bottom plate 4 at the reflection point is returned to probe 10 through the same course as the incoming path and appears on oscilloscope 12 of flow inspector 9. The object position in tank 1 is measured on a basis of the interval between transmission pulse 13' and receiving pulse 14'.
