Abstract

PURPOSE: To protect rotor baldes against breakage at their tops, by fitting special insertion pieces between each adjacent two rotor blades at the positions located near the top thereof in the manner that each of the insertion pieces is fitted at one end thereof in a groove formed in the upper surface of one rotor blade and at the other end fitted in a groove formed in the lower surface of the adjacent rotor blade, and thereby preventing occurrence of self-excited vibration due to stalling flutter.
CONSTITUTION: Turbine rotor blades are constituted by a multiplicity of blades 1 which are disposed equidistantly around a rotor (not shown). In such a rotor blade structure, insertion pieces 2 made of anti-corrosive thin metal plates are extended between each adjacent two rotor blades 1, 1 at the positions near the top thereof. These insertion pieces 2 are made slightly longer than the distance between adjacent two rotor blades 1, 1 and shaped in an arcuate form having a proper radius of curvature convexed toward the inside of the blades 1. Each of these insertion pieces 2 is fitted at one end thereof in a groove 3 formed in the lower surface of one blade 1 and at the other end fitted in a groove 4 formed in the upper surface of the adjacent blade 1, so that deformation of the blades 1 near the top thereof can be restricted.
