Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit the molding of a friction pad even when the size of back metal is larger than molding part by a method in which a molding mother material and a back metal are put in a cavity formed by an intermediate mold and a lower mold, the intermediate mold is pressed on an upper mold, and then the lower mold is acted on them.
CONSTITUTION: A molding mother material M is put in a cavity formed by an intermediate mold and a lower mold, a back metal B is fitted from above into the notched portion 13 of the intermediate mold, a knock pin 18-latching lever 22 is regulated in such a way that a knock pin 18 is leveled with the upper surface of the lower mold, and then a ram 16 is operated to indicate the compression molding position. At first, the upper surface of the intermediate mold touches with the bottom of the upper mold and then the lower mold compresses a spring 26 and enters the intermediate mold 14, whereby the molding mother material M is molded by compression to form a friction pad. After the molding, the ram 16 is sufficiently lowered and the knock pin-latching lever 22 is pulled up, whereupon the knock pin 18 is lifted through a knock pin holder 20 and the friction pad so molded is knocked out of the mold.
