Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject catalyst having high activity and an optional shape by forming a carrier of the packing catalyst for the water-hydrogen isotope exchange reaction by dispersing and adhering a hydrophobic powder with a large specific area on a structural matrix formed by assembling a hydrophobic substance into a meshed structure.
CONSTITUTION: A material of a yarn or a string comprising a hydrophobic org. fiber such as a polyester fiber, or an inorganic fiber such as a glass fiber is formed into a mesh or a grid form to prepare the structural matrix. Subsequently, on said matrix, the hydrophobic powder with the specific surface area of 100m2/g such as a styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer powder is dispersed and adhered to obtain the carrier. Moreover, a catalytic metal of VIII group metal is supported to said carrier to obtain the packing catalyst for the water-hydrogen isotope exchange reaction. Said catalyst has wide activity as well as is light in weight and low in pressure loss and has vibration resistance as well as can be freely formed into an optional shape.
