Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the tightness of winding accurately by a method wherein a diameter of a winding roll and a change of winding length are detected at all times, and a change of the tightness of the winding of the winding roll due to a change of a sectional area thereof at every fixed winding length is make known.
CONSTITUTION: A change of a diameter D of a winding roll 1 is transmitted to a rotary encoder 14 with the movement of a rider roll 7, and detected as the pulse signals of the rotary encoder 14. A change of winding length L is detected as pulse signals by means of a pulse generator 16 connected to a shaft 15 of the first winder drum 2. The pulse signals of the diameter D and the winding length L are processed in a microcomputer 17, and the quantity of a change of a sectional area of the winding roll corresponding to the fixed winding length is computed. When the quantity of the change is displayed at a display device such as a cathode-ray tube (CRT), an operator can easily confirm a change of the tightness of winding in the winding roll, and the tightness of winding can be controlled accurately.
