Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep a constant speed difference and to shorten a followig time to the minimum at all times by a method wherein a material position detecting sensor and a computing device are mounted, and the speed of a succeeding material following a preceding material is controlled.
CONSTITUTION: A reference position (C-C13)(1+β), where a succeeding material 12 is to follow a preceding material 13, is compared with a forward end position (C-C12). Multiply the difference (error amount) by a proportional integral function, and the product is defined as a speed correction amount ΔV of the succeeding material 12. The sum of the speed correction value ΔV and a followig speed V13× (1+β) is given as a speed reference to the driving device 41 of a roller 4. From a control start point for the following speed, a position relation between the preceding material 13 and the succeeding material 12 is controlled as the speed reference, and thereby, the more the two materials approach in proximity of each other, the more minute the speed difference becomes. As a result, catching up can be conducted in a soft touch manner.
