Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to perform operations of retrieving, accepting and disbursing of articles in a short time and rapidly, by a method wherein a reading device and an indicator are attached at a storing shelf where a plurality of objects marked with an identifying symbol are stored, and electronic computer and terminal equipment are installed at appropriate locations. CONSTITUTION:With a terminal equipment 4 being manually inputted with identifying symbols of a desired article 3, such as registeration numbers, indicators 8 on a storing shelf 1 storing the desired article 3 are lighted by an electronic computer (not shown). Simultaneously, a reading device 2 starts to move inwardly from the inlet side of the storing shelf 1 along a rail 7, and reads a bar code label attached on an upper part of the article 3. With the indicator 8 lighted, the operator finds at what shelf in the storing shelf 1 and on what stage the desired article 3 is located, and can find its location by means of a location indicator 5. When the desired article 3 is taken out, a pushbutton 9, simultaneously, is depressed, and thus, the reading device 2 restores to its given position.
