Abstract
PURPOSE: To easily separate rare earth elements of high purity with high separation efficiency by subjecting rare earth elements to displacement development with a porous cation exchange resin at a specified temp. using a complexing agent and an accepting agent.
CONSTITUTION: A soln. contg. accepting agent ions is pH adjusted so as to prevent the precipitation of the agent by hydrolysis, and it is fed into a column packed with a porous cation exchange resin having 50W90% volume voids. A soln. contg. rare earth element ions is pH adjusted so as to prevent the formation of a precipitate by hydrolysis, and it is fed into the packed column for adsorption to form adsorption bands of the rare earth elements on all of the packed resin. A complexing agent soln. is then fed from the top of the column to perform displacement development at 70W150°C. Thus, the rare earth elements are separated and taken out.
