Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate paint mists from waste gas by a solvent in a compact installation without necessity of changing a filter, by arranging a mist separator at the lower part in an active carbon tower.
CONSTITUTION: A mist separator 2 is arranged at the lower part of an absorbing tower 3. In treating waste gas, the waste gas from a painting process is carried to the mist separator 2 by an air blower 1, where the mists are separated from the waste gas, and to the absorbing active carbon tower 3, where a solvent is separated from the waste gas by absorption and the treated gas is discharged. In regenerating the active carbon, heated vapor is introduced through an upper part of the absorbing tower, while the operation of the air blower 1 is stopped. The solvent is separated from the active carbon by the heated vapor, and falls to the mist separator 2 with the vapor. By this falling solvent, the mists are washed away from the mist separator. The solvent and the vapor are then carried to a consenser 4, condensed there, and divided to a solvent part and a water part by a solvent-water separator 5. The separated slvent is reserved in a waste solvent tank 6.
