Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve reliability of a door opening and closing device by arranging light transmitting optical fibers from a light source through said device to a sign board on a dashboard to detect the condition of partial door opening depending on the intermission of the light transmitted through the optical fibers.
CONSTITUTION: When a door is normally closed, light rays from a light source 6 are transmitted through optical fibers 1 arranged in left and right, front and rear doors 2, 3 and rod lenses 5 for combining the light rays between the respective rear ends of the door and chassis to directly irradiate and display a sign board on a dashboard. However, when the door is partially opened, the light path is intermitted where the door is opened so that the light rays do not reach the sign board on the dashboard 4 and the partial door opening can be detected. In this case, since the sign board is preferably lighted in a sense of sending a warning of the partial door opening, a photoelectric converter may be provided on the way of the light path to light the sign board under the condition of the partial door opening.
