Abstract

PURPOSE: To change overlapping density of the titled coil in order to enable the uniform cooling, by conveying the rod coil in the warming zone with a stepped carrier conveyer, and by changing the conveying speed between front and back of at least one stepped part in this conveyer.
CONSTITUTION: The rod material, being sent from the hot rolling mill through the cooling zone, is coiled by the laying head 1 of the coiler, and the rod coil 3 is dropped onto the carrier conveyer 2. The rod coils 3 on the conveyer 2 are conveyed under the overlapped condition placing a specified interval between adjoining coil rings, with the forward motion of the conveyer 2; then, the coils 3 are passed through the warming zone, surrounded by the warming cover 4 and divided into plural sections, alternately under the compact and loose conditions. For example, the speed of the conveyer, in each of A, B, C zones, arranged in series through the stepped parts 5, is adjusted to A>B<C; hereby, the overlap density of the coils 3 in the B zone becomes compact, and becomes loose in the A, C zones; as a result, the coil temperature is uniformized.
