Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform quantitative analysis for org. phosphate contg. inorg. phosphoric acid by potentiometric analysis simply with high precision, by finding the third equivalent point by addition with a prescribed quantity of silver nitrate after the first and the second equivalent points are found.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture consisting of org. monoorthophosphate and/or diorthophosphate, and inorg. orthophosphoric acid is dissolved into a solvent such as alcohol, aceton etc. contg. water, and the alkali quantities (a)ml, (b)ml corresponding to the first and the second equilibrium points are found by potentiometric measurement with alkali of known concn. by a conventional method. Then alkali quantity corresponding to the third equilibrium point is found by alkali potentiometric titration after addition of silver nitrate in a quantity not less than that corresponding to the chemical equivalent of phosphoric acid group present in the sample prior to the measurement. The contents of said three components are calculated according to formulas I, II, III, where N is normality and (f) is the factor of the alkali soln.
