Abstract

PURPOSE: To exclude the pseudo reflected wave and detect an accurate position of the defect, by oscillating the ultrasonic waves in the different two directions and detecting the defect which is equidistant from both directions.
CONSTITUTION: The pulse-type high-frequency signals oscillated from the flaw detector main body 1 are turned into the ultrasonic waves of different frequency bands via the probes 3 and 3, and these ultrasnoic waves propagate into the material A the flaws of which are detected. And if the material A has the defect B, each ultrasonic wave is reflected by the effect B. This reflected wave is received at the probes 3 and 3 each and transmitted to the frequency discriminators 4 and 4 after converted into the high-frequency signals. The discriminators 4 and 4 discriminate only the reflected waves of the ultrasonic waves which are oscillated from the corresponding probe, and the high-frequency signal is sent to the simultaneous measuring device 5. And the signal passes through the device 5 only when the signals are transmitted simultaneously from both discriminators 4 and 4 to be displayed at the display part 6 in the form of the defective reflected wave. In such way, the position of the defect can be detected accurately.
