Abstract
PURPOSE: To drive an electricity generating water-wheel by water run through a tailrace provided in part of the weir wherein the water surging against the weir is led inside through water leading channels provided to the outerside of the weir and conduits embedded in the weir so that the water level inside the weir may higher than that outside it.
CONSTITUTION: The weir 1 includes the water leading channels 8 on the outer wall thereof, the conduits 5 embedded in the weir 1 and extending inwardly downwardly toward the inside thereof and having inlets open to the channels 8 and check valves 6 at the inner ends, and the tailrace 9 in a part of the weir having the electricity generating water-wheel 10 therein. The water surged by the waves 4 is led into a region P through the water leading channels 8 and the conduits 5, and is prevented from flowing back by the check valves 6, so that the water level 7 becomes higher than the sea level. As a result the water in the region P can be discharged through the tailrace 9 onto the water level 2 with a considerable head to rotate the electricity generating water-wheel 10 to generate electricity efficiently.
