Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a high-quality fluorescent film without any use of organic solvents, by mixing a fluorescent body with hydroxy propyl cellulose, a deforming agent principally consisting of acetylene glycol, and water to prepare a suspension, which is applied to the inner wall of a glass tube. CONSTITUTION:A fluorescent body is added with hydroxy propyl cellulose (HPC) which is a water-soluble high molecular substance, and also acethylene glycol acting as a deforming agent. Next, water is added to the mixture to prepare a suspension, which is applied to the inner wall of a glass tube and dried. HPC is soluble in water at lower temperatures than a copolymer of isobutylene and maleic anhydride which has been conventionally used, and this fact facilitates the dissolution of HPC. HPC doesn't react with impurities, and the burning temperature of HPC is as low as 30 deg.C. In addition, HPC is liable to blow to some extent, and acetylene glycol possesses a high deforming ability. Consequently, the above mentioned means enables the formation of a high-quality fluorescent film without any use of organic solvents as well as any ill effects to human bodies or the like.
