Abstract

PURPOSE: An aqueous ink which is particularly useful in writing tools with a pen point made of fiber, felt or the like, and which has a controlled rate of vaporization and so is highly resistant to drying when exposed to air for a long time, including a specific OH group-containing urea compound.
CONSTITUTION: The aqueous ink is obtained by mixing (1) 60W90wt% of water, (2) 10W80wt% of a water-soluble organic solvent such as ethylene glycol, (3) 1W15wt% of an acid dye and/or a direct dye, such as Aizen Tartrazine or Chrysophenine G, and (4) 1W20wt% of a urea compound of formula I, wherein R1 and R2 are each H or a group represented by formulas IIWVI, with the proviso that R1 and R2 both are not hydrogen atoms at the same time, such as mono-β-hydroxyethylurea.
EFFECT: The dye is well dissolved and the rise in ink viscosity with time is small. The ink is free from an unpleasant odor and does not blot.
USE: Ink for fountain pens, recorders and stamp pads.
