Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled composition which prevents the dripping of the ink during writing, increases the amount of ink contained in a fountain pen, and eliminates the clogging of the pen point, without using an ink absorbent, by using a polymeric material capable of forming a hydrated gel and a water-soluble or water- dispersible colorant as essential components.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition is prepared by compounding (A) 100pts.wt. of a polymeric material capable of forming hydrated gel (e.g. polyvinyl alcohol, starch, etc.) and (B) 10W1,000pts.wt. of a water-soluble or water-dispersible colorant (e.g. dyes or pigments). A hydrogel writing ink is obtained by dissolving or dispersing the component (B) in a hydrogel composed of an aqueous medium and the component (A). The preferable composition of the ink is 1W5wt% of (A), 1W10wt% of (B), and the remaining part of water, etc., and if necessary, the composition may contain a water-soluble organic liquid (e.g. a polyhydric alcohol), a surface active agent, etc.
