Abstract
PURPOSE: To inhibit crosslinking within a molding machine and to improve crosslinking properties during immersion in hot water, by a method wherein a crosslinkable olefin polymer, in which a silane having hydrolyzable org. gp. is bonded to the main chain or the side chain, is used in combination with a hydrophilic polymer miscible with said olefin polymer.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100pts.wt. of a crosslinkable olefin polymer in which a silane having hydrolyzable org. gp. is bonded to the main chain or the side chain and (B) 0.01W50pts.wt. of a hydrophilic polymer having a water absorption of not lower than 0.01% and miscible with the polymer (A), are mixed with a silanol catalyst. The mixt. is molded by extrusion to obtain a crosslinkable compsn. This molded compsn. or a molded compsn. obtd. by molding a mixt. contg. no condensation catalyst by extrusion, is immersed in a soln. contg. a catalyst to obtain a crosslinked molded ariticle. In this way, there is obtd. a water-crosslinkable molded compsn. in which crosslinking reaction within a molding machine is well controlled.
