Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the vibration of strip effectively by raising static pressure exerted on the strip passing by a method in which another fluid is flowed counterwise against a fluid discharged from a static pressure pad provided in the face of the strip. CONSTITUTION:A fluid, e.g., N2 gas, is jetted from the nozzle 4 of a static pressure pad 2 to prevent the vibration of a strip by a static pressure generated in a space S between the strip 1 and the pad 2. Furthermore, another fluid 3 flowing along the surface of the strip 1 is directed against the flow of said fluid so as to make both the fluids collide at and near the point A, whereby producing an enclosing effect by the flow 3. The enclosing effect brings about an increase in the orginal static pressure of the pad 2 and an expansion of a static pressure-acting area, as shown by the distribution of static pressure in mm.Aq in Fig. Accordingly, the synergistic effect of both effects enhances the supporting force of the strip 1. Also, practically the pads 2 are provided symmetrically on both sides of the strip 1 and the flow 3 is situated symmetrically to these.
