Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the durability of iron powder as core materials by a method in which iron powder of more than a specific surface area is oxidized to form oxide film on the surfaces of the iron powder and then coated with a resin to obtain a core material.
CONSTITUTION: After sizing untreated iron powder to approx. 150 mesh size or less, the iron powder is sintered in a reductive atmosphere, and then the sintered body thus obtained is crushed and screened to obtain iron powder of a specific surface area of 350cm2/g or more. Then, the iron powder is baked in the air to form oxide film on the surfaces of the iron powder, and the iron powder so treated as a core material is further coated with a resin, e.g., acrylic resin, melamine resin, epoxy resin, etc., to manufacture a resin-coated carrier.
