Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A dimethylthienopyrimidinone derivative of formula I (R and R' are alkyl groups; X is O or S).
EXAMPLE: 1,3-( Isobutoxy )carbonyloxy-2-ethyl-5,6-dimethylthieno[ 2,3-d ]pyrimidin-4-one.
USE: An agricultural or horticultural fungicide having a powerful antifungal activity against various molds, e.g. effective against blast, sheath blight of a rice plant or melanose of a citrus fruit, and usable by foliar, water surface of soil treatment, smoking or coating.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II is reacted with a compound of formula III in the presence of a base, e.g. triethylamine, to afford the compound of formula I.
