Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance heat resistance and coolant-corrosion resistance by a method wherein a heater plate, a tube and a tank of the heat exchanger for automobiles are fixed in a water-tight manner by thermosetting epoxy resin adhesive consisting of a specified blend.
CONSTITUTION: A water tube 4 is inserted in a hole of the header plate 3 and is fixed in situ by expanding the end part thereof. After cleaning the surfaces to be jointed, the thermosetting epoxy resin ahesive 9 containing dicyandiamide of a grain size of not larger than 63μ and a silane coupling agent is applied to the part to be jointed. In this case, the adhesive 9 is sufficiently penetrated into the part to be jointed 3 by applying the adhesive while maintaining the part 3 at a temperature of about 60°C or higher. Then, reheating is conducted at about 180°C to cause the adhesive 9 to set, thereby forming an adhesive layer P.
