Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the pickling effect of a ferric sulfate-sulfuric acid bath and make pickling control easy by dipping a steel plate in a sulfuric acid soln. for >=1sec under conditions satisfying specified equations and dipping it in a mixed soln. of ferric sulfate and sulfuric acid. CONSTITUTION:When a hot rolled austenitic stainless steel plate is pickled, in the 1st process it is dipped in a sulfuric acid soln. for >=1sec under conditions satisfying specified equations (a), (b) [where C is the weight percentage (%) of sulfuric acid as H2SO4 and T is the temp. ( deg.C) of the soln.]. The plate is then dipped in a mixed soln. of ferric sulfate and sulfuric acid. Thus, by carrying out pretreatment in the 1st process, deterioration of the ferric sulfate-sulfuric acid bath is prevented to especially make the pickling effective.
