Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress the over-compression down to the minimum and improve the efficiency of a compressor, by reducing the change rate of the compression ratio to the rotation angle of a rotor as the pressure in a compression chamber reaches a fixed level.
CONSTITUTION: The pressure in a compression chamber 3 is set to reach a fixed level when a vane 6 is brought to a point B, nearest to the inner wall of a cylinder 1 while a rotor 2 is rotating. The compression chamber 3 is narrowed near the point B, and the change rate of its sectional area is reduced near the point B. In this arrangement, the initial speed of compression is very high, and the ratio of compression and the pressure in the compression chamber can rapidly reach their fixed values. When they reach the fixed values, the vane 6 is brought to the point B where the change rate of the sectional area of the compression chamber 3 is low, and the change rate of the compression ratio to the rotation angle of the rotor 2 is greatly reduced. Consequently, the over-compression can be suppressed down to a low level, and a compressor can be improved in its efficiency.
