Abstract

PURPOSE: To make out an input character even if it has a peculiar habit of writing, and improve the recognition rate, by using not only a fundamental dictionary but also a personal dictionary.
CONSTITUTION: The standard character form entered in the standard character form printing column is handwritten in the writer's character entry column 3 of a data sheet 1, and also a program is handwritten in the regular data part 4. When a character in the entry column 3 of this sheet 1 is read, the feature of its character is extracted by the character analytic part, and it is registered in the personal dictionary 16. Subsequently, a character of the regular data part of the sheet 1 is read, its character is analyzed by the character analytic part, and its result is compared with the contents of the fundamental dictionary 15. In this case, if its character cannot be made out, the analytic result in the character analytic part is compared by use of the personal dicionary 16. Since the feature of a character peculiar to a writer is stored in the personal dictionary, a character which cannot be made out by the fundamental dictionary 15 can also be made out, and accordingly, the recognition is improved.
