Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the range finding precision, by obtaining defocus signals by plural range finders and by driving a lens by the intermediate value of them.
CONSTITUTION: In case that the focus is in an arbitrary position, phase slip (j) is obtained by outputs of photoelectric element groups A1WAn and B1WBn as follows; outputs α1n of photoelectric elements A1WAn of the A group and outputs b1Wbn of photoelectric elements B1WBn of the B group are stored in a pair of memories as series, and one series is shifted for the other series to examine their correlation degree. The correlation degree between these series is obtained by expression Ya=Σ((ai-bi)q or YB=Σ[(ai-bi+1)p-(ai+1- bi)p]. Though defocus signals corresponding to p=1, 2, 3...j' are fluctuated in a certain range (indicated oblique lines) due to variance of the operating part and so on, the generation frequency becomes maximum in the intermediate part and is proportional to lens leading-out quantity (e). Thus, the range finding precision can be enhanced by taking the intermediate value of repetitive signals of range finding.
