Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable exchange information transmission of high quality for various data by controlling the space switch of a switchboard by transmitting a control signal and the main signal of the 1st frequency component with a light signal from a subscriber's terminal and then by separating the control signal through a branching filter. CONSTITUTION:Subscriber's terminal system 1 consists of signal processor 4 for TV, telephone, FAX, etc., and receiver 5 to a transmission line, and transmission line 2 is composed of a optical fiber cable. Light switchboard 3 consists of branching circuits 7-1 and 7-2 that branch signal light controlling space switch 6, photoelectric converting circuits 8-1 and 8-2 that convert control signal light into an electric signal, and device 9 that processes the output signal to control switch 6. As for the wavelength of the light of the circuit constitution, one wave is assigned to the control light signal of switchboard 3, and two waves for two-way transmission between subscribers. Space switch 6 is composed of n+1 units of 1xn light switches 31-1-31-3 connected to the transmission lines from respective terminals, light transmission line 32 and light wavelength converter 33.
