Abstract
PURPOSE:To fix temporarily optical fibers at accurate positions in grooves by fitting optical fibers in grooves in a base having a thin film of a magnetic material bonded to the surface and by fixing them temporarily by placing a magnet on them. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of base 1 having V grooves formed by photolithography, thin film 2 of a magnetic material such as Cr and Ni is formed and optical fibers 3 are fitted in those V grooves. Next, optical fibers 3 are temporarily fixed by placing flexible magnet 4 on optical fibers 3 and then resin, etc., are flowed into grooves to fix optical fibers 3. Thus, the light emission part of a semiconductor light emitting device and optical fibers or only optical fibers can be fixed being positioned easily with precision.
